Joining the DMin Program
Master of Divinity degree (MDiv) or equivalent master’s degree , a minimum of 90 credits, and sufficient breadth and depth of theological, Biblical, and ministry courses) from an accredited institution with a minimum B+ average from Senate of Serampore College or Asia Theological Association or any higher degree institutions. Evidence of a strong foundation in graduate theological studies is required from all DMin applicants. They must have:
- An MDiv or BD or MTh or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of three years of significant and sufficient Christian ministry experience.
- Proof that the candidate has a current ministry position.
- Basic computer (MS Office or similar), zoom or google meet and internet skills.
- Language Test: English is the language used in class, assignments, and research. The English exam will test writing and reading, while speaking and listening will be assessed in the interview. Alternatively, candidate may produce an IELTS with minimum grade of 6.5 or equivalent certificate.

Documents:
- A completed online or paper DMin Application form.
- Fee Rs. 1500 is non-refundable application fee.
- Official transcripts from prior degrees
- Resume including details of educational and ministerial background.
- Three letters of reference: a) an academic reference regarding your capacity for doctoral study; b) a professional/character reference and c) an ecclesial/Church/ Institution reference.
- Written Personal Statement (5 – 7 double-spaced pages), outlining: key milestones in your spiritual and vocational/ministry journey.
- An entrance examination to assess the candidate’s ability to comprehend contextual issues, sensitivity to the struggles of the community and respond to emerging challenges to the ministry.
- An interview with the Admission committee will be scheduled when most of the documents above have been received.
A candidate may transfer in a total of 6 doctoral credits. Individual appeals for transfer credits will be evaluated based upon the following considerations:
- Transfer credits must be from ATA or other accredited institutions or those recognized by an approved accrediting body.
- The candidate must have earned a passing grade of “B+” or higher.
- Transfer credits must be relevant to the DMin degree.
To request transfer credit, contact the Academic Office for details. Official transcripts must be received by the FBC Registrar’s Office before consideration for doctoral credit will be given. Any exceptions must be recommended by the Doctoral Program Committee and approved by the FBC Academic Office.
The committee normally will consider only completed applications. The committee considers both stated admission standards and matters for discernment such as perceived fit of the applicant with the program and cohort and the benefit of the program to the applicant.
The DMin Admissions Committee offers admission to persons deemed qualified, ready, and appropriate for the program and cohort. This program is limited to an enrolment of 15 candidates at a time.
- Upon approval by the DMin Admissions Committee, a letter of offer for the program is sent. Complete the response form and send in your fee deposits.
- Begin connecting after receiving the orientation letter with email, internet, library, student card, form, etc. We will also send you the important FBC DMin Handbook.
- Enrol in courses. The college will notify you when the online enrolment is setup.
- Begin reading and pre-residency assignments upon receiving the course syllabi (usually with the orientation letter)
To satisfy graduation requirements for the DMin. degree, the student must:
- Satisfactorily complete all DMin program requirements. This includes the completion of at least 47 credit hours of course work (16 credits from Core courses, 16 credits from Specialised courses, 15 credits from Research course)
- Maintain a minimum cumulative grade B on his or her transcript. Courses for which the final grade is a B or below cannot be used to meet graduation requirements. A student must retake the course (or its equivalent), at his or her expense, to earn a grade higher than B.
- Be in good standing at the college.
- Complete an acceptable and approved DMin Research project.
- Make an acceptable DMin Viva Voce.
- Receive approval to graduate from the DMin Program Committee and the Academic Office.
Total tuition for DMin program is Rs. 2, 25, 000/- The tuition charges cover the courses and research project. The tuition charge does not cover the application fee, textbooks, cost of travel, housing and meals, graduation fee, late research submission fees.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND SPONSORSHIPS
Partial scholarships are available for deserving candidates on a case-by-case basis.
Please note that scholarships and sponsorships will be awarded on the basis of the quality of the research proposal, the area in which the research is being carried out, and the feasibility of the said research project.
